Arsenal had agreed an $81 million transfer deal with Man City on transfer deadline day pending the London club completing the nearly $125 million signing of Thomas Lemar from Monaco, but that deal fell through in the final moments. The Guardian claims that Crystal Palace, Brighton and Hove Albion, plus West Brom would all pay the required £13 million for the deal.

With Arsenal not playing their 'A' team in the Europa League, Wilshere has been given a run of games to get back to the right level.

However, it is yet to be determined whether or not Sanchez will join during the current transfer window or wait until June.

Leicester are willing to allow striker Kelechi Iheanacho, 21, to leave this month, despite only signing the Nigerian in August for £25m.

The Chile international is out of contract at the end of the season and is free to sign a pre-contract agreement with overseas clubs.

Jack Wilshere proved against on Wednesday that he is well and truly back, and a force to be reckoned with.

Chief executive Ivan Gazidis has made a number of backroom changes in the past year with the likes of Raul Sanllehi coming in as a de facto Director of Football from Barcelona, Sven Mislintat arriving as head of recruitment from Borussia Dortmund and former Team Sky legal expert Huss Fahmy joining as a contract specialist last summer.

Sanchez, while still a key figure for the Gunners, has struggled to live up to his high expectations this season.

Gabriel Jesus's knee injury has increased Pep Guardiola's desire to sign Sánchez. "You want to keep your best players".

Arsene Wenger's side will want a swift exit for their talisman in the hope of securing a stand-in this time around.

There has been plenty of doom and gloom surrounding Sanchez and Ozil. Sanchez would also alleviate much of the weight on the shoulders of Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling.
